Journeys End

My girls are almost at the end of their journey. They have traveled from Ontario, across the United States. Going through New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and finally back to Ontario.
They traveled the land seeing the sites along the way, from the usual to the unusual, from Corn Palaces, to national monuments like Mount Rushmore. Yellowstone National Park with the geyser and pools to the Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. From Salt Lake City to LasVegas , Santa Monica pier and beach to Disneyland, Tombstone, AZ  to a county fair and rodeo, silly monuments like the Cadillac Ranch near Amarillo, Texas with its 10 Cadillacs stuck in the ground, tail up and painted. To the serious monuments to like that of the Survivor Tree in Oklahoma City a memorial to those who died in the tragic bombing. Outdoor musical productions like Okalahoma to a historical pageant of music and dance in Nauvoo, Illinois. Hot dry weather, to smog like clouds, to thunderstorms and rain and tornado warnings and hot humid weather. Long flat roads to twisting mountain roads. Firework displays in Niagra Falls on Canada Day; to Independence Day in Big Horn, Wyoming who put on an extremely impressive fireworks show with their bursts set to music; to Disneyland in California  and the Fantasmic show that mixes light, pyrotechnics, live character, robots, and water to take you through Mickey's dreams and nightmares.
They have taken lots of pictures and posted a blog of their journey. They have visited with family along their way.
All in all they have had an incredible journey, a time to bond as sisters and make memories that will last a lifetime. They may be separated in years to come by distance, as they will in time live in different cities or towns, but they will always have the memories of this special time they spent together during their travels.
It will be good to have them home again safe, just in time for the next experiences in store for Crystal heading into Northern Quebec to teach Grade 10 English and Rebekah heading off to college in Sault Ste Marie for the Field Naturalist course.
Our family is continuing their journey in life with its varying paths.

Family Travels

Talking about families, 4 of our daughters are making a trek (road trip) to visit family members. They , Crystal,  Kathleen,  Rebekah,  and Kendra, now, left Sudbury ( our home), June 30th. To visit  their sister Amy, 29; and her  husband Eldon Ferguson who live in Holbrook, Arizona. Their first stop was Toronto, Ontario where they met up with Angela, 26; they did some tourist type stuff in Toronto and had dinner with their uncles Gary and David at the Genghis Khan Mongolian Grill. Then, they headed to Thorold, ON where Angela currently lives. Today I believe that they have gone to Niagra Falls for the day and will probably see the fireworks display and some other Canada Day celebrations. Tomorrow they cross the Canada/US border at Niagra Falls or Fort Erie, and head towards their next destination. Crystal has a blog  Tales from a traveling teacher set up, where the girls will be updating us as to their trip experiences. They will be meeting Amy and Eldon in Anaheim, California along their way. You can follow their trek on Crystal's blog.

Happy Canada Day 2010

A New Journey

Blogging is a new journey for me. A journey into a world that I am not that familiar with as yet.
My main interest besides raising the children, that Ken and I have brought into this world. Who are namely, Crystal, Amy, Angela, Nathan, Kathleen, Rebekah, and Kendra,  they are all adults now, that is they are all 18 years if age and over.
Would be my interest in Family History Research, or in other words gathering information on my ancestors has been a constant interest over the years. I have been researching for about 35 years and have collected a lot of  information.  I have unofficially named my self as the family historian. I have decided that I want to share the information and the pictures that I have collected with other family members. I am not sure just how I am going to lay all this information out as yet but at the moment I am thinking that I will create chapters ( Branches)  relating to each family line in my family, which is the Wallace Family Tree.

As well I have also compiled information on Ken's family which is the Speedie Family Tree which I also plan to share.

Other interests that I have are scrapbooking and reading and gardening, food storage, sewing to list a few others.
So this is my first ever attempt to blog. I hope that it will be of interest to friends and family.
